Tips for Traveling with Contact Lenses

Vision is a great blessing of God, probably the greatest if you ask me. If you have any vision problems and you wear any kind of correction devices like eyeglasses or contact lenses, life is difficult. Especially if you love traveling like me. You can’t just get up and be on your way. There are many precautions and preparations that must be taken care of before you embark on a journey with your friends or family. Let’s take a look at some tips and precautions that can be very helpful for you whether you are on the road for pleasure or business purposes.

Update your prescription before you leave:

It is important to get your eyes checked every six months even if you don’t experience any problems. But it is very important to get your eyes checked before you go on a journey and ask your doctor for the pointers about the place where you are going. Your doctor will make sure that your contact lenses are up-to-date. Get this done about two weeks before you start packing for the journey. This will give you an ample amount of time to go online and search for good quality cheap contact lenses. This way you will able to pack without the worry of getting them on time.

One more thing that you must take with you is the number of your doctor and his email. This will come in handy if you come across any problems. If you are going away for a long period or abroad they will help you get a new pair of contacts.

Be fully equipped:

When you start packing for your journey make sure that you have all of your contact lens supplies with you. It is always the best strategy to bring an extra pair of contact lenses with you because you don’t know when you might need one. Doctors emphasize on using daily disposable contacts normally and especially if you are planning a trip somewhere. So, if you use daily disposable contact lenses or have decided to go for them during the trip, make sure that you have plenty of extra contact lenses with you. If you use weekly and monthly contact lenses, taking a couple of extra pairs is a must for a tension-free vacation.

Contact lens solution is an inevitable accessory for contact lens wearer, as transport regulations change, make sure that you know the recommended volume and pack a couple of travel-sized bottles of contact lens solutions. Although you can put all of these in a bag but the best approach is to buy a contact lens kit, the one with a mirror. They are practical, safe and easy to pack.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket:

That’s right it is not only true for business students but for contact lens wearers as well especially if they are about to go on a journey. Imagine you packed your contact lens kit in your luggage along with extra pairs and unfortunately, you get separated from your luggage or you pack one in your hand carry and it gets lost, what then? You are away from your home and worried about your luggage but now you are extra worried because your contact lenses kit is lost as well. That is why the best approach is to pack two kits one in hand-carry and one in the luggage. So that if any unfortunate event occurs you have a spare kit with you.

Maintain good hygiene:

Maintaining good hygiene is very important for good health especially if you wear contact lenses and you on the road. You will no doubt come across different germs and bacteria, shake hands with strange people, you are bound to get germs on your hands, so it is inevitable for you to keep your hands clean and dry. Keep a hand sanitizer with you always.
